Our pickling workshop quickly approaches! Thanks to those who have registered, and a friendly reminder to those who haven't - we still have spots available, but contact us soon to ensure your spot. Registration will remain open until this coming weekend - don't delay! Our workshop is held at Red Door Provisions this Monday, January 18th, from 6-8PM. Cost is $60 per person, and includes refreshments, a tailored Red Door Provisions recipe, and a jar of pickles.
In this workshop, we'll be focusing on making winter pickles, which, admittedly, doesn't sound like a real thing at all. But alas, it is - and a wonderful thing at that. Preserving is something we can do year round, and winter offers a great opportunity to work with cellar veggies that we might otherwise find boring and mundane, or at best, rudimentary. Pickling allows for these crops to take centre stage - to be the main ingredient in a bright, glowing, lovingly-packed jar.
In the dead of winter, my favourite pickle to make is our Rosemary Shallots, and these are the pickles we'll make together Monday night. These tiny pink pickles are the perfect accoutrement to so many things (pizza! sandwiches! charcuterie! salad! roast chicken!) and are a great example of elevating a very basic ingredient to a refined, dynamic condiment through preservation. You'll leave our workshop with our recipe in hand, a jar of pickles to show off to friends, and the confidence to make this pickle again and again.
Hoping you will join us!
